What happens in
Counselling & Psychotherapy
Depending on the presenting issue and on what the client is seeking, generally Carolyn helps people to live as well as they possibly can in the present . This may include problem solving and self-esteem building, while exploring the history of the issue and the underlying dynamics. She offers you a place to offload, to explore your thoughts and feelings with the chance to see things from new perspectives and angles.

Testimonials
“My mental health has improved thankfully”
Carolyn is a genuine, empathetic and extremely caring person. She uses a holistic approach to Therapy and uses ACT and CBT techniques. I initially attended therapy with Carolyn to help me with a long battle with anxiety and depression. I found Carolyn so experienced and up to date in her field. She listened to me but also taught me very practical techniques which were very empowering. Carolyn also helped me to cope with a late miscarriage and I found her amazing support at that time. My mental health has improved thankfully but I still have a session every now and again if I feel the need.
I Can’t recommend Carolyn enough as a super therapist with a very big heart.”
After years of suffering from various forms of anxiety and depression, I called Carolyn on the recommendation of a friend when it all became too overwhelming. From the initial phone call, I felt immediately at ease and confident that she would be able to help me to deal with my grief and anxiety, specifcally health-related. Working thorugh my issues led me todiscover that a lack of self-esteem and self-compassion was the root of the problem. Through ACT, a touch of CBT and talking through things, I have been able to come to terms with grief, see my thoughts for what they are, deal with anxiety trigger and speak to myself in a more compassionate and kind-hearted way. With her encouragement, I have become a more confident and contented person – I remember once again what happiness feels like. I’m glad I crossed paths with Carolyn – I’m in a much better place thanks to her help and guidance.
Compassionate, friendly and highly recommended I relunctantly contacted Carolyn when I was having difficulties in my relationships, and I needed help. I only intended going for a few sessions. Then I met Carolyn and realised the benefits of therapy, and happily continued having regular therapy sessions. Carolyn is a highly qualified counsellor and psychoterapist. She is very friendly, and at the same time professional. With Carolyn’s help and guidance, I was able to look at some of the root causes of the difficulties in my relationships. Carolyn not only listens carefully, she brings her knowledge and experience into each session. Her insights, observational skills and understanding has enabled me to think about my perspectives in a new way. She has helped me cope with overwhelming emotions.
I find it easy to talk to Carolyn about the most difficult topics. She is empathic, warm and compassionate, and I never feel judge by her. Although therapy can be tough at times, with Carolyn’s gentle encouragement and support, I have been able to get through it. Therapy with Carolyn is now a safe place where I can let my guard down and explore difficult emotions, and gain deep insight. I really feel seen and heard, and feel empowered to keep moving forward.
My confidence, self-worth and self esteem is constantly and consistently growing. I Trust Carolyn, and I feel she is very honest and caring. Carolyn has taught me techniques to ground mysef, which I find very useful. Through her compassion, kindness and support, she is helping me make positive changes in my life and my relationships, which I am confident will be long lasting. GOing to therapy is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I am grateful Carolyn is in my life, and I truly believe she is a wonderful therapist. I would highly recommend Carolyn to anyone who is considering therapy.
She is a compassionate, expert therapist who genuinely cares and really helps
I first went to Carolyn based on a recommendation from a GP. I was suffering from anxiety. Carolyn helped me work through this incredibly tough time, where my self esteem was very low. Through her care, attention and expert advice, I learned how to manage it. I feel very comfortable speaking to Carolyn and always feel better after I attend an appointment.
I’ve returned to Carolyn over the years when I felt I needed to, I cannot recomment Carolyn enough. She is a compassionate, expert therapist who genuinely cares and really helps. Thank you, Carolyn.
I started going to Carolyn a couple of years ago for help with my ongoing anxiety issues. From our initial session I knew Carolyn was unlike any other therapist I’ve attended – she is just so genuine, dedicated and compassionate. Carolyn’s super friendly and approachable nature makes it very easy to open up to her. I will be forever grateful to Carooolyn for the way she has helped me overcome the worst of my anxiety issues and also for truly being there for me when no one else understood how I felt. She is one in a million!
I was going thorugh a very difficult time and didn’t know what to do or how to pull myself back together. A family member suggested going to talk to someone. I rang around a view places and wasn’t sure about any of them then I found Carolyn, the second I spoke to her on the phone I know she was someone I could talk to.
Carolyn was such a great help to me, she is very open and friendly. The room she does the counselling it really cosy and the perfect place to get stuff of your chest. I went to Carolyn for about 6 months and it was one of the best decisions I made in myself.
Talking to her I never felt judged, sometimes I felt like I was going over and over the same things but then all of a sudden I would have these light bulb moments … were things started to come clear again.
I would highly recommend Carolyn to anyone in need of some help or going though a hard time… she is magic.
When I finished my time with Carolyn I was actually really sad to say goodby to her, she had taken me in broken and put me back together and I will forever be grateful for that.
Nothing hugeley dramatic had happened in my life. I had stresses in my career, personal and financial sections of my life and for the first time in my life become completely overwhelmed by them. I have always been very capable of dealing with problems that arose calmly but suddenly I noticed that I was just not enjoying life. I would travel distances and not remember any part of the journey I was so consumed with worry and stress. I had forgotten how to be in the moment and just enjoy the present. I strugged with the idea of seeking out professional help.
I found Carolyn through the Internet and contacted her. From the moment I spoke to her she made me feel completely relaxed and was extremely easy to talk to feelings and emotions. Carolyn through patience, kindness, and mindfulness techniques has tought me how to be in the moment and enjoy my life again. She helped me to look at pressures differently how to use logic to solve problems, and how to deal with those problems that are going to be on going in my life in a much more positive and progressive way. While attending Carolyn I have had a few very painful experiences and she has been more like a riend always available through email, texts and phone calls. I can’t not thank her enough for helping improve every part of my life and how to cope with pressures that I was struggling with every day.
I went to Carolyn because I was extremely stressed and suffered from anxiety and burn out because of work and the demand of raising a young family. I found it extremely good and after a few sessions I felt automatically better about how to deal with my stress and anxiety instead of allowing it to control me. I am now in control of my thoughts which have allowed me to not get frustrated or burnt out any anymore.
It’s amazing what you can learn from Carolyn and the knowledge she can pass onto you to help you deal with challenging situations. I couldnt recommend Carolyn highly enough.
Aftera number of false starts with therapists, I can only say that I wish I had found Carolyn sooner! Over a period of 13 years I had seen multiple therapists to address issues relating to anger management, anxiety, depression and workplace stress. With invariably unsatisfying results, I was extremely skeptical about seeing another therapist: more fundamentally I was utterly pessimistic about the possibility of being happy. My skepticism proved unfounded.
Carolyn helped me to get to the source and articulate the origins of deeply embedded patterns of negative and self defeating thinking, which proved essential in enabling her to then work with me to develop practical strategies for loosening their grip. She is patient and compassionate while being proactive and constructively challenging when she needs to be. I found this combination of empathy and robust testing of my negative perceptions immensely helpful.
The process resulted in my feeling much better at work, feeling confident in myself and had a positive impact on my relationship. I would have no hesitation recommending Carolyn for her services.
